Weisser Burgunder / Weißburgunder
The Pinot Blanc / Pinot Bianco / Weisser Burgunder / Weissburgunder grape – so many names for one grape variety – is a mutation of the red wine grape variety Pinot Noir / Pinot Nero / Spätburgunder / Blauer Burgunder, just as the Pinot Gris / Pinot Grigio / Grauburgunder gape. Although the colors of the grape skins of this trio are radically different apart from this they’re genetically almost identical triplets. Weisser Burgunder is an important specialty of Gut Hermannsberg because the grape variety enables us to offer an elegant, rather light dry white that is very different to our dry Rieslings thanks to its more restrained aromas and milder acidity.
