Natural / Natural Product
(See also: Cultural Product)
It is often assumed that wine is always natural product, but this is never the case. There is no wild grape wine comparable with wild honey. Wine is always a product of human beings guiding natural processes and is therefore always a cultural product. At Gut Hermannsberg we consider many aspects of nature – from the microbial life in the vineyard soil through to the wild yeast that ferment our wines – to be our friends, but we also recognize that a few aspects of nature such as mildew and wild boar that eat our grapes are negative and we must try to prevent them destroying our crop.
