Fruit Aromas

(See also: Aromas, Bouquet)

Of course, a glass of wine is not a piece of fresh fruit. It stopped being that the moment it was crushed and began to be turned into wine! However, all good and great wines including those from Gut Hermannsberg have wonderful aromas that remind us of perfectly ripe fresh fruits. In fact, well-made wine has far more intense fruit aromas than the grapes it was made from. This is because most of the aromas in grapes are chemically bound (technical term: glucosides) and cannot therefore be smelt or tasted. They are freed during or shortly after the alcoholic fermentation.
