Feinherb / Medium-Dry / Demi-Sec

(See also: Dry / Trocken / Sec, Sweet)

The German, English and French words for wines that have just a hint of unfermented grape sweetness and taste almost dry. The Riesling feinherb from Gut Hermannsberg is an excellent example of how this style of Riesling is very flexible on the dinning table (often more so than bone dry wines). Because of the pronounced natural acidity of Rieslings from cooler climates like ours some consumers find this quite dry enough. From our point of view to dismiss such a wine solely because “it isn’t dry” is prejudice.
