VDP / Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter
The elite association of almost 200 of Germany’s leading wine producers was founded in 1910 and Gut Hermannsberg has been a member from the first moment. Both have an eagle in their logo, but in our case it goes back to our foundation in 1902 and is Prussian. Since the last turn of the century it has introduced a new nomenclature based upon the Grand Crus of Burgundy for the single vineyard dry wines (GG at the top of the quality ladder) and village wines that has created a new dynamic in the German wine industry. Today the focus is firmly on dry wines and quality competition is intense. That applies particularly to our region, the Nahe, where the small group of VDP members are constantly all trying to outdo each other and themselves.
