Riesling
(See also: Grapes / Grape Varieties)
Riesling the name of a grape/vine variety and the wine made from. It is often supposed to be an inherently German or Germanic wine, but it is produced actually right around Planet Wine and the Riesling grape/vine accounts for just under 1% of the world’s total vineyard area and wine production. However, for fans of the wines from Gut Hermannsberg and the other leading Riesling producers around Planet Wine it is a magical word that has an electrifying effect upon them. Riesling is a global white wine cult, just as Pinot Noir is a global red wine cult and both attract a lot of enthusiasts and some real fanatics. However, the wines of both those grapes can also be very charming and easy to understand. For Gut Hermannsberg Riesling is the vine/grape variety that is best capable of translating our complex terroir into exciting and delicious wines, and for this reason it accounts for 95% of the 30 hectares of vineyards that make up our 7 terroirs.
