This is as close as it gets to a Grosses Gewächs without the letters GG being written on the label and embossed in the glass of the bottle. Riesling grapes from the old vines on 3 steep terraces in our Rossel Monopol parcel (part of the Klamm site) are the base of the cuvee, which our winemaker Karsten Peter blends with dry Riesling from the Steinberg and Rotenberg GG / ”Grand Cru” sites. A concentrated wine with quite a taut structure and lost of minerality. It is only just beginning to give its best, and will become even more elegant with further bottle aging.

Niederhäuser IN DER ROSSEL MONOPOL
Precipitous, terraced and inclined due south, the Rossel Monopole is a noble niche that stands directly in the sun, its warmth rapidly accumulating there. The poor volcanic gravel soil comes from the quarry right behind the vineyard. All this makes working there really tough, but when the balance of light and shadow on the leaves and grapes of the Riesling vines is just right, then the wines from here have an interplay of juicy fruit and mineral elegance that can touch your heart.
Serve as you would a 1er Cru white Burgunds with elegant fish and seafood dishes, or with chicken with truffles/wild mushrooms. For hot spicy Chinese or East Asian dishes go for the youngest vintage.
